Position SummaryThe Assistant Director of Recruitment and Admissions is a member of the School of Social Work’s Office of Academic and Student Affairs and serves as an integral part of the Recruitment, Admissions, and Financial Aid (RAFA) team. The position reports to the Assistant Dean of Recruitment, Admissions, and Financial Aid. The Assistant Director assists in developing and implementing data‑informed strategies that strengthen recruitment outreach, bolster applicant yield, and enhance engagement with prospective and newly admitted students from initial inquiry through enrollment.
The role coordinates activities across the full prospect‑to‑enroll funnel, supports application review processes, collaborates with external affairs partners on recruitment materials, and assists with statewide and national recruitment events, requiring occasional in‑state and occasional out‑of‑state travel.
Master’s or Bachelor’s and 0‑2 years’ experience; or a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications , Competencies, and Experience- Relevant post‑baccalaureate degree; or bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience supporting student services/admissions in lieu of the advanced degree.
- Excellent oral/written communication; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with care and accuracy.
- Commitment to equity‑minded, holistic recruitment and selection practices.
- Availability for occasional travel and occasional evenings/weekends.
- 3‑5 years’ experience in areas such as higher education student services; event management; recruitment outreach; content/website coordination; data management and reporting.
- Familiarity with UNC processes and systems (Graduate School, Slate/CRM, Connect Carolina) and social work as a profession.
- Demonstrated recruitment/admissions experience with measurable enrollment outcomes.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. It will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
