CER Education is recruiting a Teaching Assistant (also known as a Learning Support Assistant) to work in one of our partner SEN schools in Durham.
The school is an alternative provision for students with special educational needs (SEN), including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).
What the role involves:- Provide individualised support to students between the ages of 2 and 19 years old with SEN
- Work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored interventions and support strategies
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging student engagement and confidence
- Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Healthcare Plans (EHCPs)
- Support students in both academic and social development, helping them to build essential life skills
- Provide pastoral care and emotional support, ensuring students feel safe and valued
- Support the class teacher with managing behaviour within the classroom
- Supporting on school trips, outreach days and life skills lessons
- Current students or graduates studying relevant fields including Psychology, Nursing or Sports Coaching
- Anyone with at least 3 months’ relevant experience as a support worker, mental health practitioner, sports coach, teacher assistant, or within childcare or residential settings
- A Level 2 or Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is not essential, but candidates with these qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply
