Position Summary:

The Second Chance Initiative (SCI) Program Coordinator supports the daily operations, student services, and administrative functions of Campbell University's prison education and reentry programs. This position plays a critical role in coordinating student support services, facilitating communication among students, faculty, correctional facility staff, and university departments, and ensuring the effective delivery of educational programming across multiple correctional and reentry sites.

The Program Coordinator assists with student onboarding, admissions processes, program records, compliance documentation, event coordination, faculty support, and operational logistics. This position contributes directly to student persistence, retention, and successful degree completion by helping ensure students have access to the resources and support necessary to navigate higher education while incarcerated and upon release.

The Program Coordinator reports to the Assistant Dean of Adult & Online Education – Second Chance Initiative and works collaboratively with university departments, correctional facility personnel, faculty, community partners, and students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with student onboarding, orientation, and academic progression tracking.
  • Monitor student participation and assist with outreach efforts related to retention and persistence.
  • Assist students in navigating university systems and processes.
  • Coordinate day-to-day administrative operations of the Second Chance Initiative.
  • Maintain student files, program documentation, and operational records.
  • Assist with course scheduling logistics as needed in conjunction with the Site Coordinators.
  • Coordinate textbook orders, educational materials, and program supplies.
  • Support travel arrangements, reimbursements, purchasing processes, and budget-related documentation.
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and program assessment activities.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, meeting materials, and other program communications.
  • Support faculty communication related to scheduling, classroom logistics, and instructional needs.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, student events, graduation activities, and special initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts through data tracking and program evaluation activities.
  • Maintain confidential student information in accordance with FERPA guidelines.
  • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, Information Security, FERPA guidelines, and other state and federal mandates.
  • Support the mission of Campbell University and the Second Chance Initiative.
Education/

Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or at least two years of professional experience in higher education, student services, program coordination, nonprofit administration, corrections, workforce development, or related field.
  • Familiarity with student information systems, learning management systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working with underserved, adult, nontraditional, or justice-impacted populations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills.
