- Provide Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to students with disabilities in school, community, and workplace settings through individual, small-group, and large-group instruction.
- Deliver engaging instruction and activities related to career exploration, workplace readiness, self-advocacy, postsecondary education planning, and employment preparation.
- Plan, coordinate, supervise, and support students participating in job shadowing experiences, internships, work-based learning opportunities, and community-based activities.
- Assist students in developing workplace skills, professional behaviors, and strategies for success in employment and educational settings.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with school personnel, parents/guardians, employers, community partners, and vocational rehabilitation staff to support student outcomes.
- Monitor student progress and provide guidance, feedback, and support to help students achieve individual goals.
- Complete and maintain accurate service documentation, attendance records, case notes, and program reports in accordance with agency and funding requirements.
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as assigned.
- Travel between schools, OE offices, community locations, and employer worksites as needed to provide services and support students.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students and serve as an effective and professional role model.
- Strong desire to motivate, coach, and engage adolescents from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including schools, businesses, community locations, and office settings.
- Knowledge of employment, transition, or disability services is preferred.
- Ability to problem-solve, adapt to changing priorities, and exercise sound judgment.
- Exercises sound judgment and initiative by anticipating needs, following through on responsibilities, and taking appropriate action with minimal supervision.
- Work hours generally follow the school calendar and are typically Monday through Friday during the academic year.
- During school breaks and summer months, the Transition Specialist may provide support for internships, summer camps, employment experiences, and other program activities. Work schedules may vary based on program needs.
- Primary work locations include local high schools, employer worksites, community sites, and OE offices.
- The position requires standing, walking, transporting program materials, and actively supporting students in educational and community environments.
