The OpportunityWe’re hiring an R&D Senior Engineer to join our Grid Components team within Electrification Distribution Solutions at our North American Technology Center in Mebane, NC. In this role, you’ll serve as a technical expert in medium-voltage (MV) reclosers—driving product innovation, supporting global teams, and ensuring high-performance, reliable solutions across our portfolio.
What You’ll Be Doing- Act as the R&D subject matter expert for MV reclosers and related products
- Drive product development, improvements, and maintenance activities
- Collaborate with global teams (U.S., Mexico, Germany, Czech Republic) to solve complex engineering challenges
- Develop, test, and validate new ideas through structured problem-solving and hypothesis-driven approaches
- Lead root cause analysis, design reviews, and reliability engineering efforts
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEEE, IEC, ANSI, UL, CSA)
- Support global certification efforts and product approvals
- Document designs, findings, and technical solutions for long-term scalability
- Contribute to intellectual property development and support IP strategy initiatives
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred)
- 8+ years of experience in the electrical power equipment industry
- Experience with medium-voltage products such as reclosers, breakers, or overhead distribution equipment
- Strong understanding of industry standards (ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, UL)
- Experience with simulation tools (dielectric, thermal, structural) is a plus
- Proven ability to lead technical problem-solving and collaborate across global teams
- Must have authorization to work in the U.S.
