Equipment Systems Application Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support, equipment selections, and limited estimating to Account Executives during design and proposal phases.
• Assist in developing customer business cases for conceptual solutions and validate assumptions during proposal development.
• Build detailed cost estimates and scopes of work in conjunction with Sales, prepare proposals, and issue RFQs and RFIs.
• Support the Account Executives in becoming the basis of design by selecting specifications, sequences, drawings, and reviewing documents as required.
• Manage project profit and loss (P&L) and customer satisfaction for all assigned projects.
• Execute equipment orders, startup initiation, and final payment while working closely with branch administration to manage backlog execution, schedule, and forecast execution of equipment projects up to two years in advance.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to develop and provide engineered equipment submittals, verify approved submittals, and coordinate controller and equipment configurations.
• Evaluate contractual scope of supply, respond to client-issued bulletins, field directives, and schedule changes, and coordinate project schedules to ensure timely release of equipment.
• Coordinate the factory equipment order process, ensuring technical and commercial compliance with contract documents and site coordination requirements.
• Generate technical content for Purchase Orders, select, order, track delivery of materials and equipment, and coordinate shipping processes to meet factory and project schedules.
• Provide post‑shipment services, including startup initiation and solutions to delivery, shipping, or scope omission problems and visit customer sites to ensure compliance.
• Ensure all project documentation complies with contract requirements and Johnson Controls standards, answer engineered equipment and controls application questions, and maintain relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors, and subcontractors.
• Attend progress meetings, coordinate customer training requirements, and work with Customer Operations Associates to address billing and collections issues, ensuring Johnson Controls receives payment in full.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Experience with HVAC equipment and controls selection and configuration (preferred).
• Computer skills:
  Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Visio), Adobe Writer, and basic Windows operating system environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a large and diverse number of projects with professionalism, cooperation, and persistence.
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States. This role does not offer sponsorship.
• Preferred:
  AutoCAD experience.
