Summary

Manage engineering, reliability, maintenance and facilities operations in a facility containing multiple, complex operations with at least 200 employees with a focus on meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, production, maintenance, efficiency, and service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and promote practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards, and serve the needs of our customers.
  • Take ownership and demonstrate leadership necessary to achieve goals specific to Safety, Quality, Service, Efficiency and Employee Development.
  • Monitor KPIs, anticipating and correcting trends which would compromise achievement of targets.
  • Lead by example to promote and encourage employees to strongly commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Provide management of engineering services for the installation, maintenance, and improvement of machinery, equipment and facilities.
  • Deploy troubleshooting procedures: failure analysis and corrective action procedure, equipment capacities and risks, and other engineering solutions.
  • Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and autonomous maintenance plans.
  • Investigate root‑cause for repetitive damage and failure rates, and calculate costs that do not meet or follow the maintenance plans.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and acquire tools for use, including process‑analysis software and other physical tools and resources specific to reliability and maintenance improvement.
  • Lead training efforts to ensure maintenance technicians have needed resources for standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, specialty tools, and updated Preventive Maintenance (PM) kits.
  • Set priorities for maintenance backlog and oversee long‑range and short‑range maintenance schedules.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Be responsible for evaluating, installing and testing new equipment.
  • Ensure that maintenance standards are compliant with statutory health and safety regulations.
  • Direct teams to assess progress, analyze problems, facilitate solutions, identify resources and adjust plans as needed.
  • Ensure that objectives are achieved at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirements.
  • Identify and recommend short‑ and long‑term business strategies, understand and drive industry best practices.
  • Develop and convey broad, advanced conceptual ideas, and propose and persuade several diverse stakeholders, including senior manufacturing leadership.
  • Establish and communicate department goals.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on applicable machinery, equipment and facility for cross‑functional projects.
  • Understand, support and follow management expectations in alignment with company values.
Leadership and Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of staff.
  • Responsible for employee development, discipline, performance appraisals, and administration of policies.
  • Review staff levels to ensure they are adequate, and resources are effectively allocated to meet short‑ and long‑term objectives.
  • Make recommendations regarding staffing decisions.
  • Conduct or participate in the interview process with new candidates.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field and seven (7) years of engineering, facilities, and/or machinery maintenance experience.
  • Seven (7) years of progressive supervisory experience.
  • Two (2) years of specific experience performing maintenance and equipment reliability.
  • Displays strong interpersonal skills and is accessible and approachable.
  • Demonstrated project management experience by having successfully managed and completed a large, complex engineering project.
  • Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to design and production.
