Arclin is looking for a Product Development Chemist to join our Moncure, NC plant. The role reports to the Product Development and Applications Manager and focuses on designing and executing projects to develop innovative chemistry‑based products (resins) that support our product development strategy. The position will collaborate with R&T, Sales, Manufacturing, and Marketing teams to provide product expertise.
Responsibilities- Plan and execute projects to develop and optimize high‑quality resin products for Arclin customers, including formulating and synthesizing formaldehyde‑based resins and conducting lab experiments.
- Perform wet chemistry testing, troubleshoot production issues, and apply innovative thinking to solve complex scientific challenges.
- Provide technical support to the applications, production, and sales groups.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of work results and activities.
- Ensure a clean and safe lab environment in compliance with Arclin health, safety, and environmental policies, and keep all lab equipment properly maintained.
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or a related field.
- 2‑3 years of experience in an industrial chemical laboratory environment; an MS degree may substitute for two years of experience.
- Ability to work efficiently and communicate clearly in cross‑functional teams.
- Strong written communication skills with emphasis on technical clarity and accuracy.
- Proficiency in MS Office, statistical analysis, and other relevant software.
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience handling hazardous materials while following health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Ability to construct schedules and set goals to execute projects and tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated innovation and creative thinking in a scientific context.
- Knowledge of formaldehyde‑based resin chemistries.
- Experience in project planning and design of experiments.
- Basic understanding of engineering processes used in resin production.
