Insurance Regulatory Analyst II (NS)
Position Number: Grade: NC19
Salary: $67,122 (Salary Grade NC19). The posting will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the closing date. This recruitment is for an expected vacancy, effective 6/20/2026.
Primary Purpose of the PositionThis position functions as a policy form and rate analyst performing technical review for compliance with North Carolina law. The products may include Health Insurance, ACA products, Managed Care Products, MEWAs, Specified Benefit Health Insurance, Long Term Care and Disability Income Insurance forms and/or rates.
Collaborates with the Actuarial Division in pre‑approval review of premium rates, MEWA licensing, and related product advertising to assure compliance with NC statutes and regulations.
Assists the Manager in mentoring and reviewing work completed by lower-level analysts.
Required to assist with special projects and complete all other duties as assigned based on business needs of the Division.
Responsibilities- Perform technical review of policy forms and rates for compliance with North Carolina law.
- Review products including health insurance, ACA, managed care, MEWAs, specified benefit health insurance, long‑term care, and disability income insurance.
- Collaborate on pre‑approval review of premium rates and MEWA licensing.
- Review product advertising for regulatory compliance.
- Mentoring and reviewing work of lower‑level analysts.
- Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as required.
Skills and Abilities
(Management Preferences)
- Considerable knowledge of insurance principles and practices and department regulation.
- Considerable knowledge of mathematics, including the fundamentals of statistics.
- Considerable knowledge of insurance rate‑making procedures and practices or policy contract and manual provisions.
Bachelor's degree in business or economics or a related program from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in policy and rate examinations, underwriting, claims adjusting work, or financial/marketing analysis; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
