Division of Accounting and Finance:

The Division of Accounting and Finance is instrumental in determining the rates charged by Florida’s investor-owned electric, natural gas, and water and wastewater utility companies. Processing utility company rate changes includes analyzing filings and expert testimony, presenting staff expert-witness testimony, developing interrogatories and cross-examination questions, holding customer meetings, and presenting recommendations to the Commission including recommendations regarding the profit that utility companies should be allowed to earn.

Job Duties:

The position will compile and analyze utility data, communicate the results of the reviews both verbally and in writing, participate in meetings related to the regulation of investor-owned utilities, and attend training opportunities to obtain skills necessary for success in the position. The incumbent will fill a position in the Finance and Tax section.

Finance and Tax:
The duties associated with this position include reviewing utility cost of capital, financial statements, and related testimony on utility finance and tax issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

Four years of relevant work experience in the area of accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, public administration, business administration or economics is required. An associate degree and two years of relevant work experience OR a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may be used as an alternative for the years of required experience.

Preference will be given to applicants with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Special consideration will be given to applicants with the ability to review, analyze and evaluate data and who are able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
