Vice President of Financial Planning Analysis

A PE-backed home services platform (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) in North Carolina is hiring the finance leader who builds the function rather than inherits a finished one.

The FP&A team exists. The analysts are capable. The systems are in place.

What does not yet exist is someone at the top of that function who can move at the pace the business and the sponsor require.

That changes with this hire.

You own FP&A across the business: the budget and forecasting cycle, the daily dashboards and KPIs, and the one-off analyses the C-suite and Board need. You are also the day-to-day interface with the PE sponsor and lenders, covering debt covenant calculations and ad hoc requests as they come.

You report directly to the CFO and operate as a working partner to the whole C-suite, including a CEO who is a former CFO and will be closely involved.

• Close the gap between analysis and the financials, outputs reach the business before they tie back to the numbers, then have to be corrected. That stops with you
• Actively develop two capable analysts who need more management than the CFO has time to give. You evaluate them, you develop them, you bring them along on AI tools
• Build the budgeting process from the beginning. The business is early in that cycle. The incoming VP sets how finance runs, not inherits how it already does

This is not a back-office seat. You are visible in the office and in meetings. The CEO was a CFO. This function carries real weight.

• 5+ years of progressive FP&A experience with 3-5 in leadership. You have managed analysts and can describe specifically what you changed about how they worked and what improved as a result
• A genuine consolidated, corporate-level view: fluent in the balance sheet and cash flow, not only deep in one function or category, while also able to operate at branch and project level
• PE-backed or investor-facing experience that includes direct sponsor and lender reporting, covenant calculations, ad hoc requests, board materials. You have been the person in the room, not the person who prepared slides for someone else who was
• High energy and a real bias to speed. Analyses turn around fast and tie to the financials before they reach the C-suite. You raise opportunities unprompted rather than waiting to be asked
• North Carolina based. This is an on-site role. The CEO wants face-to-face working and the analysts need hands-on management, not a leader who manages through calls

• Category specialists who are strong in the detail of one function but cannot produce a consolidated view of the business. The previous VP came from a category-level role and never built it. The seat has already paid that price
• Candidates who wait to be asked. FP&A here needs to be proactive, identifying what the C-suite needs before they raise it. A passive approach will show up within the first 90 days
• Leaders who manage from their office. The analysts need active development, the C-suite works face-to-face, and the CEO will notice if the VP of FP&A is not in the room

• Base salary $185,000–$190,000
• Performance bonus of 30-40%
