Description of Work

This is a position at Piedmont Correctional Institution located in Salisbury, N.C. (Rowan County), which is a Medium male prison facility housing 800 inmates.

Work in this class involves first-line supervision to Correctional Officer II's in medium-custody facilities or institutions, increasing the custody and security coverage.

Salary Range: $39,244-$68,679 Salary Grade: NC08

Necessary Special Qualifications :

MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

• Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
• Pass a criminal background check
• Produce a negative drug screening result
• Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
• Possess a valid driver's license

The salary grade for this position is NC08 . State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.
