The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community.

Description of Work

This position provides logistical oversight for the Emergency Preparedness Section and all NCDAC Special Teams. Responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating monthly training for PERT, SORT, SOTIT, HNT, and Honor Guard; securing training locations; managing equipment needs, inventories, and issue; and ensuring all teams meet required annual training hours.

The role oversees ordering, vetting, and accountability for team equipment such as uniforms, weapons, tools, and specialized gear. It manages rosters and ensures accuracy for supplemental pay assignments. The position processes reimbursements for travel, meals, and lodging associated with trainings and duty assignments.

This position also supports project management tasks assigned by the Emergency Preparedness Section, maintains fixed assets, and participates on the State Emergency Response Team (SERT) and NCDAC Incident Command. Duties include coordinating equipment for command posts, assisting with emergency operations, and conducting routine inspections to verify teams meet policy requirements.
