This is a full‑time, salaried, exempt position.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. The Inpatient Operations Manager provides day‑to‑day administrative and operational leadership for the inpatient unit, ensuring efficient, compliant, and patient‑centered operations. This role focuses on non‑clinical functions, including staffing coordination, facilities oversight, supply chain management, regulatory readiness, budget monitoring, and interdisciplinary coordination. The Operations Manager partners closely with clinical leadership to remove operational barriers and support high‑quality care delivery.
- Provides operational leadership to inpatient teams to ensure efficient facility operations and effective, team‑oriented workflows.
- Participates in the hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluation of inpatient operational staff, in collaboration with clinical leadership and other stakeholders.
- Ensures staffing plans support regulatory requirements and approved operational standards at all times.
- Demonstrates leadership flexibility by providing operational support during census surges or staffing challenges to ensure continuity of services.
- In collaboration with Director of Inpatient Services and other stakeholders develops, implements and promotes operational workflows which support patient admissions, discharges and transfers.
- Identifies opportunities for operational improvement by conducting or directing data analyses/aggregation and leveraging same with workflow knowledge to ensure operational optimization.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for inpatient unit needs.
- Coordinates staffing schedules and provides leadership necessary to ensure staffing levels are within approved budgetary guidelines and/or operational matrices.
- Achieves super‑user status for all clinical applications and care support modules (e.g. MyUnity, DME Portal, Dr. First, et. al.).
- Partners with Director of Inpatient Services to anticipate staffing needs based on staffing trends.
- Supports onboarding, orientation logistics and competency tracking for staff.
- Engages with patients and families, visitors, as applicable, to promote service delivery excellence.
- Ensures the physical plant environment is safe, clean and well‑maintained.
- Coordinates with facilities, environmental services and dietary staff, as applicable.
- Tracks and reports operational metrics (e.g., census, length of stay drivers, throughput indicators), as assigned or directed.
- Supports organizational planning specific to inpatient service line(s), as applicable.
- Serves as liaison between inpatient staff and other stakeholders.
- Supports documentation and record reviews to ensure alignment with organizational expectations and operational standards.
- Communicates operational updates clearly and consistently.
- Fosters a supportive and compassionate work culture that empowers staff, promotes teamwork, encourages professional growth, and strengthens retention.
- Ensures inpatient operations support compliance with all applicable policies, licensure, certification, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health or related field preferred. Previous operations management experience in healthcare (or healthcare‑specific credential or licensure) may be considered in lieu of education.
- Prior regulatory experience preferred.
- Minimum 2‑3 years of healthcare operations or administrative management experience required.
- Minimum 2‑3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience working in inpatient, hospital, hospice, or post‑acute care settings required.
- Valid NC driver’s license, reliable independent transportation, and current automobile liability insurance at limits required by the agency.
