The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Luxury Hotel General Manager to lead a distinctive boutique hotel and conference property located within a nationally recognized university community. This is a rare succession opportunity created by the upcoming retirement of the current General Manager. The property features luxury guestrooms and suites, a fine-dining restaurant, and direct access to a major arena and conference center.

Guests include university leadership, prospective students and families, VIP visitors, speakers, entertainers, athletic programs, conference attendees, and special-event guests. The property is also undergoing approximately $20 million in renovations, creating an exciting opportunity for the incoming General Manager to help guide its next phase of growth and service excellence. This role is designed for a proven, current hotel General Manager who understands luxury service standards and can step into the position with minimal ramp-up time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership for all hotel and lodging operations.
  • Maintain luxury-level service standards across guestrooms, public areas, and all guest interactions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop department heads and property-level managers.
  • Serve as the primary operational partner to senior client stakeholders.
  • Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, labor management, cost controls, and profitability.
  • Ensure the property consistently meets client expectations, contractual requirements, operating standards, and safety requirements.
  • Partner with food and beverage, conference services, events, facilities, finance, and human resources.
  • Support the successful execution of conferences, athletics, executive visits, speakers, entertainment, VIP stays, and special events.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the guest experience, operational productivity, and financial results.
  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, federal, safety, and hospitality regulations.
  • Build a strong service culture centered on professionalism, discretion, accountability, and extraordinary hospitality.
  • Support the property through its ongoing renovation and long-term growth initiatives.
Qualifications

This is not a developmental or first-time General Manager opportunity. The successful candidate will be a current or recently active lodging General Manager with a strong luxury or upper-upscale hospitality background.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • Current or recent experience as the General Manager of a luxury, upper-upscale, boutique, lifestyle, resort, or full-service hotel.
  • Proven success leading a complete hotel operation through department heads and senior managers.
  • Strong understanding of luxury guest service, service recovery, quality assurance, and property standards.
  • Full hotel P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, labor controls, and financial analysis.
  • Experience building strong relationships with ownership groups, management companies, or high-level clients.
  • A polished and professional presence with the ability to interact confidently with executives, VIP guests, families, speakers, entertainers, and community leaders.
  • Experience coaching and holding department heads accountable.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Food Service, Facilities, or a related field preferred.
  • Willingness to relocate to and become part of the High Point, North Carolina community.
Preferred Experience
  • Boutique or independent luxury hotel leadership
  • Luxury branded hotel experience
  • Resort, conference center, or convention hotel operations
  • Event-heavy hotel environments
  • Fine dining, banquet, catering, or executive hospitality exposure
  • Property renovations, repositioning, or capital improvement projects
  • University, destination, or institutional hospitality
Compensation and Benefits
  • Annual bonus potential: 17%
  • Candidates with compensation expectations above the stated base may still be considered when their luxury hotel experience and leadership background strongly align with the position.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and additional employee programs.
  • Relocation support may be discussed based on candidate needs and final offer structure.
