Job Description
The Workforce Planning (WFP) organization is a part of Consumer and Community (CCB) Operations division. The WFP Data Science organization delivers quantitatively driven solutions to support core WFP functions such as demand forecasting, capacity planning, resource scheduling, and business analysis & support. The WFP organization supports Chase’s call centers, back office, and approximately 5,200 retail branches.
As a Data Scientist Lead – WFP Machine Learning Scientist, you will engage in complex, data‑intensive projects within the AI/ML team. Your responsibilities include developing and deploying machine learning, artificial intelligence, and statistical models, participating in the full model development lifecycle, mentoring junior team members, collaborating with stakeholders, selecting appropriate methodologies, ensuring robustness of solutions, communicating results, and influencing outcomes.
Job Responsibilities- Design and develop machine learning, AI, and statistical models.
- Participate in the full model development lifecycle, from framing the problem to preparing documentation and passing independent model review.
- Lead AI/ML projects, mentor and coach junior team members.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and define objectives.
- Select the correct methods for problem solving and stay current with AI/ML research.
- Ensure robustness of data science solutions.
- Develop and communicate recommendations, leveraging data storytelling.
- Persuade and influence others to achieve team outcomes and translate business problems into feasible technical solutions.
- Master’s degree with 5+ years or Doctorate with 3+ years of experience operating as a data science professional in a quantitative field.
- 2+ years of experience leading AI/ML projects with multiple team members.
- Hands‑on experience developing statistical, machine learning, and AI models.
- Deep understanding of mathematics and theory behind AI/ML algorithms.
- Proficiency in data science programming languages such as Python, R, or Scala.
- Experience with big‑data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Spark
ML, and familiarity with SQL, Hive. - Demonstrated relationship‑building skills and ability to influence positively.
- Advanced expertise with time‑series and operations research techniques.
- Experience with NLP/NLG, neural nets, or other AI/ML skills.
- Experience with public cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience leading highly complex cross‑functional technical projects with multiple stakeholders.
This position is full‑time in the office Monday through Friday. This position is not hybrid nor remote.
