** The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. The NCSHP has more than 1,600 troopers who cover nearly 80,000 miles of North Carolina roadways, more than any other state except Texas. In addition to enforcing the state's traffic laws, state troopers also guide traffic during hurricane evacuations, re-route traffic around hazardous chemical spills, and they stand ready should any act of terrorism occur.

** Description of Work
** If you enjoy solving complex network issues in a dynamic environment, this role is for you. Help us keep our operations running without interruption.
Duties include configuring, installing, and maintaining network hardware and software, including routers, switches, radios, and related communication systems. Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance to ensure reliable network performance, including support of power and infrastructure components. Monitor system performance, including antenna and signal quality.
Support microwave and RF communication systems and maintain mission-critical network connections across multi-vendor environments. Assess system needs, assist with network design, ensure equipment compatibility, and resolve operational issues. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support and maintain the VIPER network.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Configure and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, radios, multiplexers/demultiplexers, and GPS equipment.
* Install, repair, and perform advanced troubleshooting on network communication systems to ensure reliable operation.
* Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on communications infrastructure, including power systems, wiring, surge protection, generators, and UPS equipment.
* Monitor and evaluate system performance, including antenna function, signal strength, and network reliability.
* Support and maintain microwave and radio communication systems, including RF links, repeaters, and two-way radio base stations.
* Assess network needs and assist with system design, ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure and multi-vendor environments.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to resolve communication issues and evaluate hardware/software solutions for reliability and performance.# Position/
