The North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts (NCAOC) seeks a highly qualified Network Security Specialist II to support its mission to protect and preserve the rights and liberties of all the people by providing a fair, independent and accessible forum for the just, timely and economical resolution of their legal affairs. Productivity and creativity are evident in the high job satisfaction of our teams. Come check us out! As a Network Security Specialist II, you will support the NCAOC network security environment and be responsible for overseeing Network Security Operations on the following schedule:
Monday
- Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You will also be responsible for monitoring security events and telemetry in the AOC network, Microsoft Azure, O365, AWS, Microsoft Defender for Endpoints, and related security infrastructure. In this position you will provide technical support in the creation and delivery of network security solutions designed to meet customers' business needs while protecting valuable information for all NCAOC users and the public that they service.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the NCAOC Security Operations Center and maintaining the NCAOC Security Posture.
  • Be responsible for triaging, updating, and seeing to closure of all NCAOC Help Desk tickets.
  • Assist with the engineering and maintenance of Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), Vulnerability Management (VM), Network Access Control, IPsec, VPN, Security Information and Event Manager (SIEM), and all other network and cloud security tools.
  • Provide support of the established security incident response method from initialization through resolution and reporting.
  • Implement and configure the NCAOC Network Security Posture.
  • Evaluate, plan, and implement network upgrades for hardware and software to keep assets up to date and remediate network vulnerabilities.
  • Operate and maintain the external audits and scans.
  • Work directly with Microsoft, Cisco and other external vendors to resolve service issues and incidents.
  • Orchestrate the testing and compliance of new technology with existing systems.
  • Use a broad base of research methodologies to collect sufficient information to make qualitative recommendations on technology and technical architecture.
  • These may include technology pilots, surveys, user interviews, Internet resources, vendor documents, trade magazines, books, and/or other resources.
  • Evaluate current hardware and software systems, processes, and workflow to discover methods of improvement.
  • Evaluate new computer technology and technical architecture via an extensive review to determine its feasibility of implementation and suitability for use by the Court System.
  • Complete analysis and documentation of technical processes, define specifications of new technology, develop standards and policies, and recommend, in writing, technological changes to management and other technical staff.
  • Prepare and deliver formal presentations for management and/or technical staff, ensuring acceptance and understanding.
