Mid-Atlantic Growth Leader – Virginia and North Carolina

Job Summary

SEH is seeking a Mid-Atlantic Growth Leader to guide and grow our civil practices in central and western Virginia and North Carolina. The role focuses on managing municipal business, leading a talented team, winning work, building client relationships, and ensuring successful project delivery.

• Shape and execute growth strategy by identifying target markets, priority audiences, and scalable opportunities.
• Build talented teams and client portfolios, leveraging firm-wide resources across markets to drive growth.
• Own and direct multi-practice projects, setting strategic direction and ensuring seamless execution across regions.
• Lead a team in targeting clients and winning work throughout the region.
• Represent SEH as a trusted partner to municipalities and influence executive-level strategies.

• Demonstrated leadership in setting and executing market strategy, aligning project delivery and business development to drive sustainable, profitable growth.
• Expert at orchestrating cross-disciplinary teams to deliver complex projects efficiently at scale.
• Trusted partner to senior internal leaders, shaping growth strategies and evaluating high-impact market opportunities.
• Deep, established executive network across central and western Virginia and/or North Carolina with strong market presence and influence.
• Proven record of winning, expanding, and retaining client relationships.
• Motivated by ownership and long-term impact, with direct accountability for market success, growth, and legacy.
• Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Virginia or North Carolina.

• Twenty years of experience managing projects and contributing to market or regional growth strategies.
• Demonstrated success overseeing complex, multi-disciplinary project portfolios.
• Ability to influence and collaborate at the executive level to shape investment priorities and long-term growth plans.
• Experience embracing shared accountability for growth, profitability, and legacy.

Base compensation: $140,000 - $180,000 based on skill set and experience.

Position open to candidates residing in central or western Virginia or North Carolina. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship. Relocation is available upon request.
