It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. Description of Work This position is located at NC Correctional Institution for Women, this facility holds offenders from minimum, medium, and close custody levels. This position will manage the food service operation within the prison.

The position will require knowledge of materials and equipment used in large-scale cooking, food service activities, food service management techniques and health regulations to ensure proper food preparation, storage and sanitation of the food service section. Policy, principles and practices of nutrition and dietary requirements for a variety of therapeutic and religious diets and appropriate substitutions. The ability to estimate and plan for needed supplies, food items, and time requirements for the preparation of meals and to analyze food management operations and to evaluate needs and improvements to work processes.

The ability to provide the leadership necessary to organize and supervise the activities of food service operations and ability to hire, train, coach, mentor, assess performance and discipline employees. Ability to maintain records and reports, and ability to utilize specialized computerized programs.

/Management Preferences Salary Range: $45,431.00 - $79,504.00

Documented experience in sanitation, preparing menus, managing inventory, and/or other large-scale food service production activities.

Documented supervision of employees and/or offender workers.

About The Division of I nstitutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
