The mission of North Carolina Emergency Management is to enhance North Carolina's resiliency through active collaboration, communication, and coordination of protection, prevention, mitigation, response and recovery measures.

About the Section

The mission of the Central Branch Office is to assist local governments within the Central Regional Branch with with preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities on a day-to-day basis and during emergencies, incidents, and events and to liaison and support Division personnel and programs support these partners effectively.

About the Position

Primary purpose of the Branch Manager position is to facilitate and administer all Division programs and projects relative to preparedness planning, emergency management skills training, emergency and disaster exercises, emergency and disaster response and disaster recovery within the respective Branch. Serving as division leadership ensuring effective delivery and coordiation across the Branch and the Division with our local, regional, state, federal, non-governmental, and private sector partners.

Each regional branch office serves from 33 to 35 counties or jurisdictions on a day-to-day basis. This position is responsible for the direct supervision of personnel and operations of an assigned Regional Branch Office/Regional Coordination Center. The Regional Branch Manager is responsible for and exercises supervision of the following positions:
Five (5) Area Coordinators, One (1) Program Assistant, Three (3) Multi-Hazard Planners and others as assigned by Division Management. This position works from the central regional branch office and is eligible for part-time telework. This position is subject to be dispatched to serve as a responder to an affected county anywhere in the State or be sent on a response mission to another state through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact.

This position is subject to be on-call for emergency / disaster response on a 24-hour / day basis and serve as on-call duty officer for the Central Branch Office for as needed.

NOTE:

While the Central Branch Office is in Burlington, NC, the must live in-state in the assigned area of the Central Regional Office, or currently live in-State within 25 miles of the assigned area or be able to relocate within 180 days of hire.
