Work Schedule:
Monday through Thursday, 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This position is based in our Whitsett manufacturing facility and requires the ability to work overtime as needed.
The Material Handler is an integral component of our production team whose primary responsibility is material flow and inventory accuracy. Daily tasks include relocating and organizing material for production: monitoring needs, organizing, picking, and delivering materials, monitoring inventory levels, and submitting order requests.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor material needs of various production areas through visual inspection, oral instructions, or work orders, pick material from storage, and deliver items to the appropriate machines or production areas using forklifts, cranes, sit‑down tow motors, and stand‑up tow motors.
- Monitor production of parts, read routing cards, and move parts to next operational department (i.e., shipping).
- Track inventory movements by scanning labels, including packing slips, and entering item information into the Shop Floor Plus system.
- Load and unload freight and materials to or from loading docks or delivery vehicles, using powered industrial equipment.
- Check delivery quantities, sort materials and store items according to the department’s storage system.
- Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
- Install protective devices such as bracing, padding, or strapping to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
- Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected and organized.
- Monitor inventory levels and submit order requests as needed.
- Prepare shipments, including counting or weighing parts to ensure correct quantities, organizing orders based on their shipping destination and priority, scanning and tracking orders, and communicating with delivery personnel to ensure accuracy.
- Check forklifts and other machinery for full charge and proper functioning.
- Cut materials to proper lengths based on job using a saw.
- Dump chips or scraps using forklift or by hand.
- High School Diploma or equivalent in experience.
- Previous manufacturing experience operating powered industrial equipment.
- Ability to work 10‑hour shifts and overtime as needed.
- Ability to stand for 10 hours per shift.
- Ability to stand, bend, squat, stoop, and lift daily.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and perform repeated physical tasks.
- Skill in coordination of logistics.
- Skill in operating a computer – experience with Shop Floor Plus and INFOR XA Power‑Link preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of basic math, algebra, fractions, measurements, and weights.
- Must be a team player with strong communication skills.
- Ability to perform all work in a safe manner, including operating machinery and powered industrial equipment.
