Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a 1 shift Baumer (Operator

A)
position at our Highpoint, NC manufacturing plant.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the Slitter Operator, you will be expected to operate the slitter to ensure maximum usage of bun/sheet stock material with a minimal generation of trim material.

Job Summary

Responsible for the safe operation of a specific piece of equipment used in the manufacturing of components and/or finished products for internal and external customers as defined by a daily production schedule.

Position Scope

Maintains daily communication with Quality Control, Department Manager, and other employees in the department to ensure the needs of all internal and external customers as outlined by the production schedule are met. The position works in a normal manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature changes.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare or glue slabs together in preparation for the cutting process.
  • Run and operate computer‑controlled cutting equipment.
  • Monitor quality and make adjustments in cutting.
  • Perform thickness checks on products.
  • Collect data and document production programs.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure product meets all specifications.
  • Monitor equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Input pertinent data into the SAP system.
  • Make machine adjustments when necessary.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the entire shift.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Basic computer knowledge and the ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and call‑ins with little notice.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Forklift operation certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
  • Operate the baler as needed.
  • Collect data and document on programs.
  • Ability to perform any additional functions requested by supervision.
Preferred Skills
  • SAP – Some Knowledge
  • UKG – Some Knowledge
Education

High School Diploma or GED.

Experience

Preferred:
Machine operator experience.

Work Hours

Monday – Thursday, 6:00 am – 4:00 pm (depending on business needs).

Hourly Rate

$22.02 – $22.75.
