Job Overview

Department: Wake Forest Ambulatory Ventures:
Premier Surgery Center - Surgery Center

Position Type: Full time

Hours per week: 40

Schedule: Pre‑Op/PACU and Pre‑Assessment for ASC environment

Pay Range: $38.20 – $57.30 (based on qualifications, experience, and training)

Responsibilities
  • Engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence‑based practices.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families through the continuum of care.
  • Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team to influence care outcomes.
  • Uphold and promote a culture of safety.
  • Continuously evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action as needed.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols and procedures, as permitted by scope of practice.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution, fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation.
  • Pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications.
  • Adhere to the ANA Code of Ethics, practice ethical decision‑making, respect interdisciplinary roles, and contribute to integrated, unbiased patient care.
  • Delegate appropriately to other RNs, LPNs, and unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • Maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation.
  • Float to other units, departments, or facilities within the designated service area as needed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care for patients across the lifespan, including growth and developmental principles.
Qualifications

Education: Graduate of a Board‑of‑Nursing approved nursing education program.

Certification / Registration / License:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Active registered nurse (RN) license (multi‑state compact or single‑state) with privileges in the state(s) where care is provided.

Experience: Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking.
  • Time management, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in computer functions (e.g., electronic records, email, digital platforms).
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently.
  • Must lift and support up to 35 pounds; push/pull with 30 pounds of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 pounds with a second person.
  • Must use fine hand‑manipulation skills for procedures such as IV insertion.
  • Perform physical safety interventions, such as restraint and verbal de‑escalation, when necessary.
  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, and communicable diseases; must wear protective clothing and equipment as required.
  • Must respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
  • Physical ability testing may be required.
Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
