Position: Nurse Manager - High Point Medical Center Operating Room

Position Overview

Nurse Manager – Surgery Department at High Point Medical Center, part of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. The role oversees a dynamic perioperative environment featuring 10 operating rooms and one cystoscopy room, advanced robotic technology (2 da Vinci, 1 Medtronic Hugo), and approximately 650 surgeries annually.

Operational and clinical leadership to support operating room efficiency, project execution, staff scheduling, budget management, and collaboration with staff/providers. Oversees ~90 direct reports and fosters a high‑performing, team‑oriented surgical services environment. CNOR certification strongly preferred.

Hours per week: 40;
Schedule Details: Full time – 40 hours per week, Day shift – 06:30 start.

Pay Range: $51.05 – $76.60 per hour.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership to staff to ensure short and long‑term goals are met by developing standards of performance and capitalizing on employee strengths, supporting the mission, vision, core values, and evidence‑based practice. Assures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development for personnel.
  • Collaborates effectively throughout the organization by developing collegial relationships and communicating information effectively, encouraging communication and serving as a resource to staff and other departments.
  • Coordinates nursing care with other healthcare disciplines and assists in integrating services across the continuum of care. Accountable for the quality and appropriateness of health care delivery and for the environment in which clinical nursing is practiced.
  • Promotes a quality culture of safety for patients, staff, and the facility in conjunction with the Director of Nursing and Medical Director. Assumes responsibility for the Care Delivery Model by developing systems to monitor and measure quality, safety, and outcomes, and implementing performance improvement measures for identified metrics.
  • Ensures care is delivered with respect for patient rights and preferences, maintaining privacy, confidentiality, and security. Facilitates conflict resolution, collaborates with Service Excellence for service recovery, and empowers staff through shared governance.
  • Assumes responsibility with the Director of Nursing for planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of the budgetary process for the designated area(s). Ensures nursing workload is measured and resources allocated based on industry benchmarks and patient needs to optimize cost‑effective care. Facilitates staff utilization based on credentialing, education, and experience.
  • Ensures a biogenic environment that stimulates ongoing professional development of staff in accordance with Shared Governance and professional practice principles. Develops relationships that support continuous enhancement of care delivery and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates value for professional nursing practice, utilizes current standards, patient advocacy, and continuing education for best practices.
  • Ensures appropriate patient care for specific populations, maintains competency, and identifies strategies to meet related needs.
Qualifications

Education & Experience: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, MSN or Masters in a related field; six years of nursing experience with at least four years in healthcare management.

Licensure &

Certifications:

Registered Nurse licensure from the relevant state. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within one year of hire for Adult Critical Care and Adult ED. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within one year of hire for network pediatric units.
