Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiac Telemetry PCU position at a community teaching hospital in High Point, NC, requiring at least 1 year of cardiac telemetry or PCU experience and night shift availability.

Details
  • Work in an 18-bed Cardiac Telemetry Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a 351-bed community teaching hospital designated as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center in an urban setting in High Point, NC
  • Patient population includes general medical patients requiring continuous cardiac, respiratory, hemodynamic, and neurologic monitoring, including those presenting with NSTEMI, post-STEMI, heart failure, post-stroke, electrophysiology procedures, thoracic surgery, and post-op day 2 open heart
  • Also cares for general, vascular, and thoracic surgical patients requiring pharmacological titration of cardiac anti-arrhythmic drips (e.g., Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Tridil) and respiratory failure patients requiring medium/high flow oxygen or NIPPV
  • Patient ratios of 1:3 or 1:4 depending on patient acuity and interventions
  • RN is responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring including independent rhythm interpretation
  • EMR:
    Epic
  • IV pumps:
    Baxter; medication dispensing:
    Omnicell; cardiac monitors:
    Philips Intellivue (in-room monitors in all 18 beds)
  • Arterial lines interface with Philips monitors for invasive blood pressure monitoring
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floating required within the critical care division or Intermediate Care
Requirements
  • Active NC RN license or a compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Minimum 1 year of cardiac telemetry or PCU experience, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Proficiency in cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac strip and rhythm interpretation, arterial lines, drip titration, non-invasive ventilator care (BiPAP/CPAP), vascular lines, chest tubes/drains, post-procedure site care (trans radial bands, femoral venous/arterial sheaths, post EP pacemaker/ICD, post pulmonary artery thrombectomy)
  • Epic EMR experience
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • Must provide the last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
  • Orientation consists of 36 hours in week 1 (including nursing team orientation and online CBL via Healthstream) followed by a 12-hour departmental orientation shift with an RN preceptor
  • Department support includes CNAs, a charge nurse (who also serves as resource nurse), a Rapid Response Team, Respiratory Therapy 24/7, and Hospitalist coverage 24/7; no IV/VAT team on unit
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
  • Schedule cycles run every 6 weeks; RTO requests require Resource Team approval
