Job Summary

High Point Medical Center, part of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead its Surgery Department, a dynamic perioperative environment with 10 operating rooms and a dedicated cystoscopy room. The role provides operational and clinical leadership, supports operating room efficiency, projects, staff scheduling, budget management, and collaboration with staff and providers.

Full time – 40 hours per week, Day shift – 0630

Pay Range: $51.05 – $76.60 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to staff to ensure short and long-term goals are met, develop performance standards, capitalize on employee strengths, and support the mission, vision, core values and evidence-based practice.
  • Ensure appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development for personnel.
  • Collaborate effectively throughout the organization, developing collegial relationships, communicating information, and serving as a resource.
  • Coordinate nursing care with other disciplines, integrating services across the continuum of care, and ensuring quality and appropriateness of delivery.
  • Promote a safety culture for patients, self, and co-workers in conjunction with the Director of Nursing and Medical Director, implementing performance improvement measures.
  • Ensure care is delivered with respect for patient rights and preferences, maintain privacy, confidentiality, and security, and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Assume responsibility for budgeting with the Director of Nursing, measuring workload, allocating resources based on benchmarks and patient needs, and monitoring staff utilization.
  • Foster a biogenic environment that supports ongoing professional development and shared governance.
  • Demonstrate value for professional nursing practice, utilize current standards, patient advocacy, and maintain highest level of care and staff development.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, MSN or Masters in a related field.
  • Six years of nursing experience with four years in related healthcare management.
  • Registered Nurse licensure from applicable state.
  • BCLS required; ACLS required within 1 year of hire for Adult Critical Care, Adult ED; PALS required within 1 year for Network ED, Peds ED, PICU, NICU.
  • CNOR certification strongly preferred.
Skills & Qualifications

Excellent oral and written communication skills, negotiation and conflict resolution, ability to work effectively under stressful conditions, teamwork, and good computer skills.

Work Environment

Contact with patients, families, visitors, co‑workers, and medical staff under a wide variety of circumstances. Regular exposure to blood‑borne diseases, infections, and contagious diseases. Fast‑paced, highly stressful, dynamic conditions requiring protective equipment (eye/face protection, gown, mask, gloves).

Physical Requirements

Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching with arms, finger and hand dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
