American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Cardiac Telemetry/PCU position requiring at least 1 year of cardiac tele or PCU experience and NIHSS certification.
Details- Community-based teaching hospital with 351 licensed beds located in an urban area
- No trauma designation; hospital is a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
- 18-bed Cardiac Telemetry/PCU unit with an average daily census of 18
- Patient population includes NSTEMI/STEMI, cardiac interventional and electrophysiology procedures, thoracic surgery, heart failure, post-stroke, and post-open heart surgery patients
- Cares for general, vascular, and thoracic surgical patients requiring hemodynamic support and titration of cardiac anti-arrhythmic drips
- Manages respiratory failure patients requiring medium/high flow oxygen or NIPPV support
- RN to patient ratio of 1:3 or 1:4 depending on interventions
- EPIC EMR used
- Philips Intellivue monitors in all rooms;
Baxter IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing - Arterial line monitoring equipment interfaces with Philips monitors
- Support staff includes CNA, Charge Nurse (serves as Resource), Rapid Response Team, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, and 24/7 Hospitalist coverage
- Night shift schedule, , 36 hours per week on a 6-week cycle
- Weekend rotation is every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within the critical care division or Intermediate Care
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Telemetry or PCU experience, with most recent experience within the last year
- Skills required include cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac strip and rhythm interpretation, arterial line management, drip titration, non-invasive ventilator care, vascular line management, chest tube/drain care, and post-procedure site care
- Experience with post-EP permanent pacemaker/ICD and post-pulmonary artery thrombectomy care preferred
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
- Responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation for assigned patients
- Unit culture is described as positive, team-focused, and high-tech/high-touch
- Facility and unit orientation includes 36 hours in week one plus a 12-hour departmental orientation shift with an RN preceptor
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- RTO requests subject to Resource Team approval
- Royal blue scrub color required

- Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position before returning
