DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring at least 1 year of ICU experience and an active NC or compact RN license.
Details- Work in an 8-bed Cardiovascular ICU within a community-based teaching hospital
- Care for patients with MI, cardiac interventional procedures, post open heart, IABP/Impella support, CRRT, severe sepsis, cardiac arrest with targeted temperature management, and neuro-medical cases
- RN to patient ratio of 1:2, with 1:1 for high acuity patients and 1:3-1:4 for overflow stepdown patients
- EPIC EMR used
- 12-hour night shift schedule ), 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Float within the critical care division or Intermediate Care
- Schedule cycle repeats every 6 weeks
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Skilled in cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, rhythm interpretation, arterial lines, drip titration, ventilator care, vascular lines, chest tubes, and post-procedure site care
- Experience with advanced cardiac support (Impella/IABP), CRRT, Swan-Ganz hemodynamics, and temporary pacemakers preferred
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Provide continuous cardiac, respiratory, hemodynamic, and neurologic monitoring for high-acuity ICU patients
- Unit supported by 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, Hospitalist, and Intensivist coverage, plus Rapid Response Team
- Charge nurse serves as the unit's resource nurse
- Orientation includes NTO, EPIC training, online CBL modules, and a 12-hour departmental shift with an RN preceptor
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- RTO subject to Resource Team approval
- Scrub color is royal blue
- Positive, team-focused unit culture emphasizing collaborative care
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
- Returning travelers must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
