Requirements

The Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive environmental, health, safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainability programs across the company's furniture manufacturing operations.

This position provides leadership and oversight for all workplace safety programs, OSHA compliance, environmental requirements, hazard prevention, employee safety training, incident investigation, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement initiatives.

In addition, the EHS&S Manager will lead the company's furniture sustainability initiatives and ANSI/BIFMA LEVEL® certification efforts, ensuring that products, manufacturing processes, materials, and company practices support applicable sustainability requirements and customer expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and manage company-wide Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHS&S) programs across all facilities and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct safety inspections, hazard assessments, audits, and incident investigations; identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Manage OSHA recordkeeping, regulatory reporting, inspections, compliance documentation, and required safety programs.
  • Develop and coordinate employee safety training, including new hire training and required regulatory and job-specific training.
  • Oversee PPE, Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, machine guarding, electrical safety, emergency preparedness, ergonomics, chemical safety, and other applicable safety programs.
  • Provide safety leadership for all furniture manufacturing operations, including woodworking, CNC, upholstery, metal fabrication, welding, finishing, material handling, maintenance, and related processes.
  • Manage environmental compliance, hazardous materials and waste, recycling, waste reduction, and other environmental initiatives.
  • Lead the company's ANSI/BIFMA LEVEL® furniture sustainability program, including certification, documentation, audits, renewals, and ongoing compliance.
  • Partner with Product Development, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Operations, and suppliers to ensure products and materials meet applicable sustainability requirements.
  • Maintain supplier sustainability documentation and support customer requests related to environmental and sustainability requirements.
  • Develop and track EHS and sustainability metrics, including injuries, near misses, corrective actions, training, waste, recycling, and other performance indicators.
  • Lead safety and sustainability committees, employee awareness initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Provide EHS&S guidance and support to managers, supervisors, and employees while promoting a strong culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainability.
  • Monitor regulatory and industry changes and recommend improvements to company policies, procedures, processes, and programs.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management
