Hours per week: 40 (Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
Salary Range: $16.20 - $17.00 per hour
Position SummaryThe Laboratory Assistant position is a joint-hire between the laboratories of Drs. Tigist Tamir and Chrystal Starbird in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at UNC Chapel Hill. This support role will help with lab maintenance tasks, inventory management, and general lab organization. The position offers exposure to research without requiring prior experience.
Responsibilities- Assist with lab maintenance tasks.
- Maintain inventory of essential lab reagents and supplies.
- Support general lab organization and experiment preparation.
- Maintain lab websites and create flyers for events as needed.
- Collaborate on research projects with a focus on metabolism regulation and disease mechanisms.
Demonstrated possession of competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences- Competence in order management.
- Aptitude to maintain and organize the lab for experiments.
- Capacity to maintain lab websites and create flyers for events.
- Ability to organize lab spaces and maintain inventory of essential lab reagents and supplies.
