Employment type: Full-time
Avetix Bio is partnering with a growing biotechnology company to appoint a Senior Scientist within its protein sciences team.
This hands-on role will focus on using NMR and complementary biophysical techniques to investigate protein–small-molecule interactions, binding behaviour and protein dynamics. You will also design, express and purify recombinant proteins to support a range of collaborative research programmes.
Applications are welcomed from experienced industry scientists and candidates moving directly from a strong postdoctoral programme.
Key Responsibilities- Design, perform, analyse and interpret biomolecular NMR experiments
- Investigate protein–small-molecule interactions and protein dynamics
- Apply protein- and ligand-observed NMR approaches
- Design constructs and express recombinant proteins
- Develop protein purification workflows using ÄKTA/FPLC and chromatography techniques
- Produce high-quality protein samples for NMR and biophysical studies
- Integrate findings from NMR and other biochemical or biophysical methods
- Collaborate with scientists from different technical disciplines
- Troubleshoot experimental challenges and communicate findings clearly
- PhD or equivalent research experience in biophysics, structural biology, biochemistry or a related discipline
- Deep, hands-on experience with biomolecular or protein NMR
- Experience collecting, analysing and interpreting NMR data independently
- Understanding of NMR approaches used to study molecular interactions
- Practical experience with recombinant protein expression and purification
- Experience using chromatographic protein-purification techniques
- Ability to design rigorous experiments and work effectively within a collaborative team
- NMR studies of protein–small-molecule interactions
- Experience with both protein- and ligand-observed NMR methods
- Additional biophysical techniques such as SPR, BLI, ITC, MST or nanoDSF
- Structural biology or crystallography experience
- Previous exposure to discovery research
