Senior Paint​/Coating Laborer

Job Purpose:

The function of the Technician II is to execute and perform work in the field according to strict methods and procedures as directed by the Project Manager and the Superintendent. This individual is also responsible for directing other field personnel to successfully complete projects involving the inspection, pressure washing, sandblasting, concrete rehab, and the application of epoxy coatings and high performance coatings on concrete and steel water infrastructure.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

A thorough understanding of and ability to use tools, materials, and equipment involved in sandblasting, pressure washing, and the repair/coating of concrete and steel water infrastructure.

Identify and resolve issues and conflicts between existing conditions-such as required concrete rehab or the need for urethane/polyurethane injection-and the proposed work plan, communicating these to the Superintendent.

Ability to read and understand product technical data for epoxy, urethane/polyurethane, and other high performance coatings to ensure proper application.

Ability to understand all standard repair and coating techniques to determine the proper equipment and materials necessary for the work.

Performing repairs, cleanings, and modifications of infrastructure, often requiring work within a manhole or confined space.

Safely operating an aerial lift to perform tasks on an elevated work surface.

Recognize actual field conditions and communicate these to the Superintendent during the work process.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum requirement of 2 years of services work with CROM, 3 years of field work with CROM, or 3 years of satisfactory experience in the water/wastewater, concrete rehab, and/or coatings industry.
• OSHA 10 certification required.
• Pass background check, drug screening, Pulmonary Function Test (PFT), and Respiratory Fit Test for confined space entry.
• Successful completion of all Technician II required Safety Training, including aerial lift certification and elevated work surface safety.
• Successful completion of Levels 1-2 required testing of the CCR Field Advancement Program.
• Must be able to work at different heights and within manhole environments.
• Must be a team player and able to work well with a diverse group of personnel.

Other Requirements:

• Basic understanding of typical construction materials and methods, including high performance coatings and urethane/polyurethane injection systems.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of a computer, tablet, and smartphone for reporting.
• Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Working Conditions:

The position requires the individual to be in the office as well as in the field. Travel is required to go to the job sites and overnight stays away from home will be necessary. While on site, the ability to move around a construction site is needed which will require climbing and working off the ground. Training in the use of different types of personal protective equipment, including fall protection and respirators, will be required.

Typical construction site conditions are expected to include loud noises as well as dust and the odors of construction materials being utilized.
