Please note that there are 3 levels of Carpenter. The level you will be awarded will be based on your qualifications and experience.

Level 1 Carpenter

Job Description

A Level 1 Carpenter assists in basic carpentry tasks, developing proficiency in construction techniques under the supervision of experienced carpenters.

Essential Duties:

  • Measure, cut, and assemble materials based on project specifications.
  • Assist in installing framing, formwork, and temporary structures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints under supervision.
  • Maintain tools and equipment to ensure efficiency and safety.
  • Work collaboratively with a team to complete assigned tasks.
Level 2 Carpenter

Job Description

A Level 2 Carpenter demonstrates increased competency in carpentry work, independently completing tasks with some guidance.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform layout work and material cutting with precision.
  • Construct and install formwork, frames, and structures according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret construction plans and execute work accordingly.
  • Work with a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Assist in training junior carpenters and laborers.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
  • 3-5 years of carpentry experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; may be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn.
  • Good manual dexterity; may involve standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting for long periods.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in carpentry.
  • Must follow policies and procedures and support the organization's mission.
Level 3 Carpenter

Job Description

A Level 3 Carpenter is a highly skilled tradesperson responsible for advanced carpentry work, including framing, formwork, and finishing. This role requires the ability to work independently, interpret complex blueprints, and ensure structural integrity on construction projects. Level 3 Carpenters serve as mentors to junior carpenters and laborers, providing leadership on-site.

Essential Duties:

  • Independently execute advanced framing, finishing, and custom carpentry tasks.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings, ensuring accuracy.
  • Install and build formwork, scaffolding, and other structural elements.
  • Ensure work adheres to building codes and quality standards.
  • Operate and maintain heavy‑duty carpentry tools and equipment.
  • Assist in estimating materials and coordinating logistics for carpentry work.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior carpenters and laborers.
  • Work collaboratively with the site superintendent and construction managers to maintain project timelines.
  • Troubleshoot and solve carpentry‑related challenges on‑site.
  • Follow all safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications &

Experience:

  • 5+ years of carpentry experience in construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in using power tools, hand tools, and heavy carpentry equipment.
  • Strong understanding of building materials, construction methods, and blueprint reading.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity; may require standing, bending, kneeling, or lifting up to 50 lbs for extended periods.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and job site best practices.
Requirements
  • 18 years of age.
  • Able to pass a drug test.
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site each workday (driver’s license preferred).
  • Must provide own hand tools (excluding power tools).
  • Willingness to travel for project requirements (multi‑state opportunities).
