Qualifications- Detailed individual who possesses thorough knowledge of department policies and procedures
- Thorough knowledge in reading and interpreting blueprints and maps associated with water and wastewater infrastructure
- Thorough knowledge of a variety of maintenance and manual tasks involved in the installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of utility lines and appurtenances
- General knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Thorough knowledge in the safe use, operation and preventive maintenance of the equipment to which assigned
- General knowledge in preparing and maintaining reports, logs, files and other related documents
- General knowledge in the use of standard office equipment and associated software
- Ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions
- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms
- Ability to make arithmetic computations
- Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages
- Ability to make S.S.O. calculations, footage calculations, and pipe size, diameter and capacity calculations
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and moderate experience in the maintenance, repair and/or construction of water and/or sewer lines
- Possession of a valid Class "B" North Carolina commercial driver’s license upon hire
- May be required to obtain a Class "A" commercial driver’s license
- Must meet and maintain all certification, license and training requirements for the division which assigned to include
- Confined Space, North Carolina DOT Flagger, Work Zone and Traffic Control, and Trenching and Excavation certification within six months of employment
