Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor within the assigned department.
Responsibilities- Perform all work in a safe and controlled manner, adhering to safety and environmental policies
- Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following Nutrien, OSHA, MHSA, and Marine Security guidelines
- Use proper PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, face shields, flash suits, and personal environmental monitors
- Work as part of a team to complete assignments and minimize downtime
- Perform daily maintenance and overhauls on various types of equipment
- Perform daily and routine preventative maintenance on equipment
- Repair static equipment, including heat exchangers, tanks, pumps, elevators, and boilers
- Work as a productive team member and support continuous improvement
- Cross‑train and work in all areas of the facility, as required
- Perform work from elevated structures, ladders, scissor lifts, boom lifts, personnel baskets, and confined spaces
- Complete mechanic progression training, as required and within timelines
- Follow all safety rules and regulations as set forth by the Company
- Work at heights, outdoors, and around potentially hazardous chemicals
- High school diploma, or GED equivalent; post-secondary courses and training are preferred
- Possess a high degree of integrity and ownership
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal & non-verbal) with a diverse group of people
- Ability to read, understand, and comply with standards, policies, and procedures
- Be a self-starter and work with little supervision; willing to work overtime, as required
- Possess troubleshooting and analytical ability
- Must be comfortable and physically capable of entering and working in a confined space
- Must be able to hear and understand audible alarms, changes in noise levels of rotating equipment, and portable radio communications
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
- Solid understanding of maintenance practices and processes
- Experience operating mobile equipment, including forklifts, man lifts, and carry deck cranes
- Possess basic computer skills and knowledge

Nutrien offers a skills-based pay compensation program. Hourly rates can progress based on on‑job training, formal learning, and observation of new skills. Hourly rates can progress from a starting rate of $30.53 to $41.00 per hour over a specified time period.

Salary range in Aurora, NC: $27.48 – $43.14 per hour. Actual salary may vary based on candidate skills, experience, location, and other job-related factors.
