The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction, purchasing and contracting for goods and services, maintaining facilities, managing state vehicles, acquiring and disposing of real property, and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally, the department manages many of the state's advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the state's population that have been traditionally underserved.
** Description of Work
** This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of potable water including hot and cold water, drainage, and wastewater fixtures, piping, and components. The position is also responsible for the routine maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of hot water heaters.

* Ability to diagnose and make repairs to malfunctioning plumbing systems, fixtures and components
* Ability to use the tools and test equipment commonly used in Plumbing
* Working knowledge of State and local plumbing codes
* Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of building hot and cold-water systems, steam distribution and condensate return systems, waste removal systems, irrigation systems and drainage systems
* Working knowledge of steam distribution and condensate return systems.
** ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS:
*** The position requires standing for long periods of time and performing manual labor**.
*** The individual hired for this position must be capable of strenuous lifting, crawling and working at heights up to twenty-five feet or more as well as working in confined spaces such as manholes
* The position may require exposure to extreme environmental conditions.
* The position may require the use of a respirator and other personal protective equipment medical certification is required to verify the individual’s ability to wear and use a respirator. This is a condition of employment.
* The position requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or more than 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
* The position may require working in close quarters, crawl spaces, shafts, manholes, small, enclosed rooms, sewage and water line pipes and other confined spaces.
