Job Overview

Job Summary:

The Pipe Welder will be responsible for performing various welding tasks on pipelines and related structures, primarily for Primoris Energy Services projects. This role requires expertise in multiple welding processes and the ability to work safely and efficiently in challenging environments.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform welding of various types of pipe, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloys, using SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and other welding processes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications to determine appropriate welding procedures.
  • Lay out, fit, and fabricate pipe sections according to project requirements.
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment, including welders, grinders, and cutting torches.
  • Inspect welds for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards and codes (e.g., API, ASME).
  • Follow all safety procedures and regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with other team members, including pipe fitters, supervisors, and inspectors.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on welding equipment.
  • Document work performed, including weld maps and inspection reports, as required.
  • Work effectively in various weather conditions and potentially remote locations.
Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited welding program or equivalent on-the-job training.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Pipe Welder in the energy or heavy industrial sector.
  • Current welding certifications in SMAW, GTAW, and/or FCAW, with a strong preference for multiple process certifications (e.g., ASME Section IX, API 1104).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
  • Strong understanding of various pipe welding techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to accurately measure, cut, and fit pipe sections.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices related to welding and construction.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical examination.
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime as required by project demands.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
