Position: 0781 Electrician II Indirect

Overview

This maintenance role reports to the Maintenance Manager. The primary responsibility is to repair, install and maintain mechanical/electrical components on plant machinery, utilities, and equipment in accordance with instructions. The employee safely troubleshoots, repairs, installs, and maintains industrial electrical systems and equipment operating up to and including 480 VAC three-phase power distribution systems.

Responsibilities
  • Foster a culture of safety awareness through proper maintenance processes and procedures that promote safe work every day.
  • Safely use tools with skill and as they are intended, delivering quality workmanship.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Safely troubleshoot, test, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems operating up to 480 VAC.
  • Read electrical schematics and safely verify voltage on energized circuits (120V, 240V, 480V) as needed for troubleshooting.
  • Install new equipment (bend conduit, pull wire, install disconnects, assess phase/voltage/grounding).
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair 480V motors, motor controls, VFDs, disconnects, motor starters, transformers, electrical panels, and power distribution equipment.
  • Perform work in accordance with applicable electrical codes, company safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and electrical safe work practices.
  • Read, understand, and apply blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Understand codes and regulations applicable to the facility.
  • Use electrical tools including voltmeters and scanners.
  • Execute work orders and complete necessary documentation.
  • Perform electrical maintenance and repairs with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving abilities and strong written, communications, and computer skills.
  • Participate in Maintenance Training Programs and develop/implement Preventive Maintenance procedures.
  • Conduct periodic checks (TPM) on equipment to ensure standards are met.
  • Capable and willing to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, and shutdown periods.
  • Other duties as assigned by Maintenance Leadership.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems including 480 VAC three-phase power distribution, motor controls, electrical panels, transformers, VFDs, PLC-controlled equipment, and electrical safety practices.
  • Knowledge of OSHA electrical safety requirements, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and arc-flash awareness.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to interact with all levels of the business.
  • Willingness to learn and grow; understanding of textile manufacturing methods (preferred).
Knowledge, Abilities, and Education
  • Read, write, and understand English; interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, reports, and manuals.
  • Compute in all units of measure; perform basic arithmetic operations.
  • Record numbers accurately on required paperwork; communicate clearly with co-workers, supervisors and management.
  • Work independently with little supervision and as part of a team; solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions.
  • Organize, set priorities, schedule work, and manage multiple changing priorities.
  • Pay attention to detail and effectively execute tasks; proficient with computer and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Safely work around and troubleshoot equipment utilizing 480 VAC electrical systems and verify presence/absence of voltage up to 480 VAC.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED (minimum).
  • Technical school program or apprenticeship in electrical work (preferred).
  • Specialized training in industrial or manufacturing systems (a plus).
  • State or local license (if applicable).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ industrial electrical maintenance experience with 480 VAC three-phase systems (preferred).
  • Experience troubleshooting motors, motor controls, VFDs, PLC systems, and industrial power distribution equipment (preferred).

  • Frequent use of hands and wrists to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Standing (80%), walking (10%).
  • Ability to talk, listen, stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Occasional climbing or balancing.
  • Lift up to 10 pounds constantly, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Working Conditions

The work environment may include:

  • Constantly working under tight time constraints.
  • Occasional mandatory overtime.
  • Exposure to extreme conditions (wet/humid environments, heat/cold), and loud machinery/equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to vibration, fumes or airborne particles.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Arc-flash rated PPE, voltage-rated gloves, face shields, and other PPE as required.
  • Eye protection and hearing protection.
  • Reflective vest where applicable.
