Job Description
Summary
The Lead Plumber is responsible for supervising and performing the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of a wide range of plumbing systems, including water supply and drainage lines, sanitary fixtures, valves, pumps, and related equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations at one or more Carnival Corporation owned and operated global destination. This role also involves overseeing the installation and servicing of specialized systems such as air, gas, and vacuum lines, as well as inspecting and repairing backflow prev enters, heating units, and other critical components to maintain system integrity and compliance with safety standards.
In addition to technical work, the Lead Plumber provides guidance and direction to plumbing personnel, coordinates maintenance and repair schedules, and ensures all plumbing activities are completed effectively, efficiently, and in accordance with industry best practices.
- Coordinate and oversee the use of power tools, hand tools, sewer cleaning machines, and plumbing equipment to carry out daily tasks safely and effectively.
- Supervise employees in performing routine plumbing work such as replacing seals in water closets, maintaining clean water filter systems, and clearing blockages in sinks, toilets, and drains.
- Direct the installation of valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in accordance with building plans, blueprints, and plumbing codes.
- Ensure all plumbing operations are performed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards.
- Supervise routine inspections and testing of plumbing and drainage systems to ensure safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor the performance of key components such as pipelines, fixtures, filters, and valves, ensuring they operate without disruption.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance activities to reduce the risk of breakdowns and extend the life of plumbing systems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, materials used, and system performance to support operational planning and reporting.
- Supervise responses to emergency calls, including floods, leaks, or other urgent plumbing failures, ensuring issues are diagnosed and resolved quickly.
- Direct cutting, welding, and assembling of pipes, tubes, fittings, and fixtures during repair or modification work.
- Coordinate teams to respond to and troubleshoot plumbing emergencies effectively, minimizing system downtime and potential hazards.
- Provide guidance on resolving complex repair tasks and ensure corrective measures are performed to a high standard.
- Enforce compliance with environmental procedures, health and safety policies, and industry regulations across all plumbing activities.
- Supervise and guide plumbers, ensuring effective task allocation, quality control, and professional development.
- Coordinate and support light construction, carpentry, painting, plastering, flooring, ceiling, and electrical work as needed to support broader facility operations.
- Ensure all plumbing operations align with organizational goals while maintaining a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required; additional education in Hospitality or a related field is a plus
- At least five (5) years’ work experience in related field.
- Ability to work from blueprints, specifications, verbal instruction, or sketches.
- Ability to receive work order assignments, order materials, and complete tasks accurately.
- Ability to provide updates on work order status and written comments provided on work orders upon completion.
- Ability to locate, diagnose, and correct defects and malfunctions on a variety of plumbing systems.
- Ability to perform all duties in accordance with applicable standards and requirements of the Bahamas plumbing license and/or established compliance requirements.
