Sr. Mobile Diesel Mechanic

Job Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Perform minor adjustment and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment covering electrical, brake, cooling, AC, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials.
• Inspect, test, and diagnose malfunctions using test instruments, handheld computers, and pressure gauges.
• Road test vehicles to confirm diagnostic accuracy.
• Identify problems and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
• Manage parts inventory and equipment on company-issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
• Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre/post-trip inspections.
• Provide professional service to clients and customers, addressing needs and resolving issues.
• Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage time effectively.
• Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
• Document work on Repair Orders using company iOS device and TRAIT application.
• Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner.
• Operate with high independence and manage daily schedule.
• Maintain productivity within or close to standard repair times.
• Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary.
• Communicate with management and support team to obtain repair estimate approvals, purchase order numbers, and discuss findings.
• Perform all work in compliance with safety, health and environmental policies and federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.

• High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of relevant experience (alternative: any level degree or certification beyond HS diploma with 5 years of experience).
• At least 3 years of experience working with refrigerated equipment.
• Possess a set of hand tools required for job duties.
• OEM training and certifications preferred.
• Completion of all company-required training.
• Must complete DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
• Current valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining or a DOT physical if card has four months or less.
• Minimum age 21 years due to interstate operating authority regulations.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
• Fluent in English for documentation and communication.
