Position Summary
Join the Ramily! Winston-Salem State University ( WSSU ) is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrician to join the Facilities Maintenance team for the Department of Housing & Residence Life. The Electrician is a critical role which will support the maintenance and repair of electrical systems within our student housing facilities, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for our students and staff.

Responsibilities of the Electrician include:
- Performing inspections of electrical system equipment and facilities to assess condition, identify maintenance needs, and recommend repair priorities
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing secondary electrical systems and related equipment
- Maintaining and troubleshooting electrical components such as conduit, wiring, electrical panels, breakers, switch gear, magnetic starters, disconnects, and motors
- Troubleshoot and repair control systems, including temperature controls, regulators, humidity controllers, sensors, pneumatic control valves, and regulators
- Completing scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance on emergency generators and automatic transfer switch gears.
- Conducting electronic diagnostics, testing, and repairs on generator systems and related equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems to avoid downtime and improve system longevity.
- Repairing and maintaining lighting systems, including fixtures, ballasts, switches, and receptacles
- Work with the Facilities Management team to address maintenance needs and contribute to a collaborative environment focused on improving the student living experience.
- Respond to service requests promptly, completing work orders and ensuring all maintenance issues are resolved effectively
- Maintaining records of repairs and maintenance performed
- Managing work orders in Team Dynamix
- Adhere to safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations while performing tasks, ensuring the safety of students, staff, and the general public.
- Support Plumbing and HVAC repair and maintenance as part of the Facilities Maintenance team to ensure proper function across student housing facilities.
