Position Summary The Service Department Shop Foreman is responsible for supervising daily shop operations, providing technical leadership to service technicians, ensuring efficient workflow, maintaining repair quality standards, and supporting customer satisfaction goals. The Shop Foreman serves as a working leader who assists with complex diagnostics and repairs while coordinating technician productivity and training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Direct and coordinate the daily workflow of service technicians.

Assign repair orders based on technician skill level, certification, and workload.

Assist technicians with difficult diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair procedures.

Monitor repair quality and conduct final inspections as needed.

Ensure repairs are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer and dealership standards.

Support achievement of departmental productivity, efficiency, and profitability goals.

Work closely with service advisors to prioritize repairs and communicate repair status.

Review repair orders for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.

Ensure technicians comply with all dealership, manufacturer, OSHA, and safety requirements.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment.

Assist in technician recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and training.

Monitor technician performance and provide coaching and development recommendations.

Participate in manufacturer training and stay current on technical service bulletins and warranty procedures.

Assist with warranty claim documentation and repair verification when required.

Handle escalated technical concerns and assist with customer-related service issues.

Operate diagnostic equipment and specialty tools safely and effectively.

Maintain inventory and accountability of shop equipment and tools.

Supervisory Responsibilities Provides day-to-day supervision and direction to service technicians, apprentices, and shop support personnel.

Assists management with technician evaluations, performance improvement plans, and training recommendations.

Promotes teamwork, professionalism, and accountability within the service department.

Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required.automotive, diesel, heavy equipment, or powersports repair experience (as applicable).Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

Manufacturer certifications and ASE certifications preferred.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, repair procedures, and wiring diagrams.
