The primary purpose of this position is to lead the training and continuous quality improvement efforts for child welfare programs in the agency. This role involves providing staff assistance and evaluation of the agency’s child welfare program in functional program areas that include intake, assessments, and on‑call activities. Where social work practices overlap, this focus extends to foster care, adoptions, and in‑home services.
Responsibilities- Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
- Create the agency training plan and set expectations in accordance with policy for training, including administrative, programmatic, technology, and continuation training.
- Improve existing programs as new or updated policy is implemented.
- Design, implement, monitor, and evaluate an effective quality improvement and staff development system.
- Analyze data, provide supportive consults via home visits or other observations to assist in staff growth and skill enhancement.
- Assess individual, unit, and program training needs, including program training, systems training, and leadership development.
- Plan, develop, and deliver training and staff development programs using effective methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on‑the‑job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
- Advise individual employees on training needs, available educational or training resources, and how to utilize these resources.
- Develop, implement, and evolve a child welfare program‑wide framework to support ongoing continuous quality improvement.
- Act as an internal consultant to administration and child welfare management staff for development and direction of performance improvement efforts.
Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work plus one year of directly related experience in case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho‑social therapy and treatment planning; or a four‑year degree in a human services field and two years of directly related experience; or a four‑year degree in any field with three years of directly related experience.
A certified college transcript and a letter of reference must be provided upon request.
Knowledge of N.C. Statutes related to child abuse/neglect/dependency and manual material pertaining to the provision of Social Services, Protective Services and Foster Care Services is required.
Computer SkillsProficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
License / CredentialsValid N.C. driver’s license and maintenance of a driving record in accordance with Alamance County policy.
Other Position InformationThis position may require work outside of traditional business hours, may require staffing shelter overnight, and may require performance during emergency or disaster situations. The position is subject to reallocation contingent upon funding, agency needs, and client population.
Physical Demands- Stand, walk, sit, manually manipulate, reach outwards, reach above shoulder, climb, crawl, squat or kneel, bend.
- Lift/Carry up to 100 lbs. (within 33%–66% of the time).
