Bilingual CPS Social Worker

Position Overview

The Orange County Department of Social Services is seeking a bilingual CPS Social Worker to serve in the Home and Permanency Planning program areas. The role involves providing professional social work services for children and families affected by abuse, neglect, or dependency through assessments, investigations, in‑home services, and foster care/permanency planning.

• Conduct assessments and investigations of child maltreatment cases.
• Provide in‑home services and supports to children and families.
• Develop and implement foster care and permanency plans.
• Collaborate with community agencies to coordinate care and services.
• Participate in after‑hours and on‑call rotations as assigned.
• Work independently within the scope of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

• Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university and at least one year of related social work experience; or
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university and at least two years of related social work experience; or
• Bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university and at least four years of direct social work experience.

• Fluency in English and Spanish.
• Valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the required vehicle type.
• Participation in the Department’s Drug and Alcohol Program; completion of an SBI background check and fingerprinting is required.
• Availability to provide after‑hour and on‑call coverage.
• Flexibility to respond to emergency preparedness, disaster management, and temporary assignments as directed by the Social Services Director or designee.
