Key Responsibilities
Perform difficult professional work in the support and assistance of agency clients with personal, social, and economic needs; conduct case management and foster care services for children and families referred for child protective services; assess needs, develop service and intervention plans, manage cases, and maintain records and files; prepare reports; make referrals for adoption, foster care, recruitment and selection of foster homes, and child protective services;
conduct home visits and assess risk; arrange placements; prepare for and attend court hearings and conferences on behalf of clients; serve on call on a rotating basis; perform related tasks as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Social Work Supervisor.
- Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices, and their application to complex casework, group work, and community problems
- Thorough knowledge of a wide range of medical, behavioral, and/or psychosocial and socioeconomic problems and their treatment theory
- Thorough knowledge of individual and group behavior dynamics
- Ability to plan and organize work and to understand and interpret laws, policies, and regulations
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates, social agencies and the general public
- Master’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work OR
- Bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative (Child Welfare Positions only) OR
- Bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited school of social work and one (1) year directly related experience OR
- Master’s degree in human services field from an appropriately accredited college or university and one (1) year of directly related experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree in human services field from an appropriately accredited college or university and two (2) years of related experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited college or university and three (3) years of directly related experience
- Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver license
This position requires up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; stooping, crouching, reaching, walking, lifting, fingering, and repetitive motions are required. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas and conveying detailed or important instructions. Hearing and visual acuity are required for communications and work tasks. The worker may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
CompensationStarting salary for Social Worker “work against” is $43,960. Salary is commensurate with education and experience for “work against” candidates.
