Position: Correctional Case Manager - NC Correctional Institution for Women

Overview

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is one of the state’s largest agencies, responsible for safeguarding lives and property while providing care, custody, and supervision for adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This agency oversees state prisons, healthcare, facility operations, as well as probation and parole officers who supervise sentenced individuals in the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide counseling, complete and update case management assessments and plans, and meet each inmate on the caseload at least bi‑monthly.
  • Enter contact notes and submit timely classification reviews.
  • Ensure all components of the caseload are met, including orientation of offenders, blood‑borne pathogens training, reports, inspections, graduations, correspondence, transfer requests, job and program assignment requests, emergency leave, crisis intervention, security risks, nature of crime, length of sentence, time left to serve, infraction history, work history, vocational skills training, academic education, anger management, cognitive behavior intervention, substance abuse treatment, pending charges, detainers, security threat group affiliation, and more.
  • Develop individual assessment plans that address victim, sobriety, family mental health, sex offender status, employability, education, life skills, physical/medical condition, housing, transport, financial and legal issues.
  • Balance self‑help and rehabilitation goals with overall safety, security, management, supervision, protection, and custody of offenders.
  • Assist in custody‑related duties such as offender medical care, court trips, site checks, work release, and community volunteer programs.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet the minimum education and experience requirements listed in the vacancy announcement. Preferred qualifications include documented knowledge of case management practices, supportive counseling techniques, and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
