Backend Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with a solid breadth of experience - to design and implement the web application layer around our core technology. You’ll be part of a cross‑functional team that’s responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. We want team members with a sense of humor and a passion for making great software.

You must have the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, startup environment. If you’re also familiar with Agile methodologies, we’d like to meet you.

• Work with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions
• Design client/server architecture
• Develop and manage well‑functioning databases and applications
• Write effective APIs
• Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
• Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software
• Create security and data protection settings
• Perform code reviews
• Write technical documentation
• Work with data scientists and analysts to improve software

• Strong Python skills and experience with multiple back‑end languages (e.g. C++, Java, Node.js)
• Experience with SQL and No
  
  SQL databases (e.g. MySQL, MSSQL, Postgres, MongoDB)
• Familiarity with Linux, Kubernetes, Bash
• Familiarity with web servers (e.g. Apache, NGINX)
• Experience writing REST APIs
• Familiar with version control such as git;
  Azure Dev Ops is a plus
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Great attention to detail
• An analytical mind
• BS Degree in Computer Science
• Must be East Coast based, local candidates strongly preferred
