Set-Up & Punch Press Operator

Description

Set up and operate single hit punch presses to produce parts according to customer specifications. Will perform other duties as required, including press operation.

• Assemble nests and dies to perform various single hit operations including float pierce, cushion pierce, semi blank, temp blank and various compounds using hand tools
• Set and adjust clamps and stops
• Position workpiece against backstop or manually align layout marks
• Measure workpiece dimensions throughout to ensure quality and repeatability
• Observe tool and machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction
• Visual inspection of first piece
• Issue job and safely check in Press Operator once set up is complete
• Collaborate quality control personnel and other team members to meet production targets and address any issues or concerns.
• Follow all company safety and operations policies

• Proven experience at setting up single hit punch presses
• Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
• Experience working with ¼” thickness and thinner sheet metal
• Ability to read blueprints and part routers
• Identify metal material types and gauge thickness
• Knowledge of how to select position and align dies in machine and confirm that they are properly secured.
