Key Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a broad range of accounting and financial operations, including:
• Process accounts payable and accurately code invoices by project and cost category
• Manage vendor records, subcontractor documentation, W-9s, insurance certificates, and related compliance files
• Prepare and track vendor payments
• Assist with construction and development draw requests and supporting documentation
• Perform bank, credit card, and intercompany account reconciliations
• Maintain accurate job cost records and support budget tracking activities
• Process deposits, receivables, and various property-related transactions
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close activities
• Support financial reporting, lender reporting, and audit/tax preparation needs
• Work across multiple entities and projects while maintaining organized financial records
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency
• Collaborate with operations, project management, and leadership teams on accounting needs
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required
• Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, or a related finance role
• Experience with accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and month-end close activities
• Someone who takes ownership of their work and contributes to a positive team culture
